i tried using webread, but am getting below error Could not establish a secure connection to "www.mathworks.com". The reason is "error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed". Check your certificate file (C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2016b\sys\certificates\ca\rootcerts.pem) for expired, missing or invalid certificates.

Did you edit the certificates in some way?
In the mean time you could try to connect with http instead of https.
