Fatal Error on Startup when opening file from fileserver
Show older comments
Hello,
i got a strange problem. As long as im working on my local hard drive Matlab 2018a works fine. But when i try to load a file from a network folder i get following error message: Fatal Error On Startup std::exception: foundation::storage::vfs::InvalidIRIException
Maybe someone got an idea what went wrong here.
Thanks in advance.

I'm encountering the same error on my campus. It seems relegated to a handful of users, and follows them regardless of machine. You can sit a known "good" user at those same machines, and it works fine. There is no "tell" on their network storage drives that is a giveaway as far as obvious MATLAB errors. their network storage drives are reachable. It can't be a local hard drive error, or else a "bad" login would work elsewhere. This is the only hit that comes up with the InvalidIRIException error, so there's no real obvious solution either....but it has to be either a connection component to their actual MATLAB login ID or something with network drives.

We are having the same issue and have blown away the profiles of the affected users which didn't help. We also use a general login that seems to work on all the affected machines. We're also at a loss on this.

Having the same issue on windows 10, 64 bit. Could it be due to McAfee virus checker running? I do not have the privilege to disable Mcafee

Did anyone find a solution for this? Thanks.

Upgrading from R2018a to R2018b is the way forward.
(If you need an immediate workaround for R2018a then for our Windows 10 environment we found that opening Matlab R2018a in compatability mode as Windows8 plus clicking through the troubleshooter allows Matlab to open without the std::exception: foundation::storage::vfs::InvalidIRIException startup error)

I see the same exception with R2018b Update 3(9.5.0.1049112).
(Similar circumstances - network drive, McAfee present, which I cannot disable).
