Is it possible to override "Unsupported Version of Windows" message?

Hello: We installed matlab on our windows server box, to batch process a simple script (read excel file, standard matlab language, write excel file).

This was matlab R2017b.

However, whenever we try to run, even in batch mode, a dialog pops up "Unsupported Version of Windows" and when you click the OK button, it exits matlab.

The server is running OS:

Windows Server® Standard

Copyright (c) 2007 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Service Pack 2

System type: 64-bit Operating System

even this command invokes the same behavoir:

matlab -nosplash -noFigureWindows -r "system('echo hello'); quit"

Is there anyway to override this "Unsupported Version of Windows" behavior so we could run the matlab script?

A quick Google search didn't turn up anything useful. Have you checked what the newest release is that is supported on your OS?

I happen to know it is sometimes possible to ignore the warnings about an unsupported OS (i.e. it is possible to run ML6.5 on Windows 10 x64), but this might not always be the case.

It appears that your server is running Server 2008 sp2 which is based on Vista and probably wont run any MATLAB more recent then 2015a. I suggest upgrading to a minimum of Server 2008 R2 which is Windows 7 based and should run all recent versions of MATLAB. In general it is often possible (but may not be supported) to run an old copy of MATLAB on a newer Windows OS because Microsoft attempts to maintain compatibility but to run a copy of MATLAB that is 10 years newer then the OS is probably not going to have a work around.

Correction: MATLAB R2016a a is the most recent MATLAB that is supported on 2008 sp2.
