How to draw multiple plots in one plot in Matlab??

I have some ellipses and curves to plot on same graph. How to do it? Please help

hold on;
plot(2);

.....
plot(n)
hold off;

Another way, if all having the same x scale, you can do the following also

plot(x,y1,x,y2,x,y3....)
