.m file to .cpp

Hello all,
I would like to know if the MATLAB 7.6.0 (R2008a) version can generate .c or .cpp. If not, do I need a MATLAB Coder? Or, the MATLAB Coder can only work with recent versions like 2011a 2012a?
Thanks,
Nak

No, R2008a cannot generate .c or .cpp . You would need R2011a or later with MATLAB Coder
Note: there are a lot of restrictions on what MATLAB Coder can generate code for.

Walter,
First of all, thank you for time to answer this question. My next question is, can R2008a generate executable? If so, do I need to purchase MATLAB Compiler?
Thanks,
