Modeling Cooling Channels using Simscape

11 views (last 30 days)
Hi everyone,
first of all let me say that my thermal systems' and thermodynamics' knowladge is purelly basic stuff.
I have a metal housing that heatsup due to a process and is cooled through cooling liquid that flows in channels through the body (no extra pipes).
My question is: what is the best way to model the cooling action in simscape? I though about the Pipe componenet but this will only model the channels and not the full housing. I thought about the fluid jacket (from ss_engine_cooling_system example) as another possibility but I'm not really sure about it?!
P.S: The heat exchange is assumed to be only between the fluid in the channels and the housing.
I'm gratfull for any hints/help
Regards
MH

If someone is interested I ended up using the Pipe Component. Will give feedback on the accuracy after validating the model :)

Hi. Could you please tell about validation part? I have a similar case where fluid pass through a block (Channel) for heat transfer.
