Making a graph from points in photos

Hello! I am working to make a graph for my research and I know what I want, but I don't know really how to get it. I was provided with code from one of the graduate students I am working with, but he didn't give me an explanation of what his code means. I will attach the code that was provided and the graph I am trying to create. Thank you!

use:
imagedata= imread('myimg.jpg')
% or
xy=ginput()
% use the mouse to get some points
