Fit file image not correct

I'm trying to read in multiple .fit files into MATLAB but the image in matlab shows an extremely over exposed picture. The picture shows what imagesc shows the imshow image is just white. When I subtract 200 before imshow it shows the actual picture but very high contrast.

a = fitsread('M82-001L.fit');
imshow(a)
imagesc(a)

Maybe in your case this syntax will resolve the problem: >>DATA =fitsread(FILENAME, NAME, VALUE)
