How to avoid painting outside the figure using linewidth

Hello everyone.
I am plotting some figures using linewidth. However, in the very example at https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/creating_plots/using-high-level-plotting-functions.html
The points trespass the figure's border. Is there a way to avoid this?question.png

Use
axis([xmin xmax ymin ymax])
