Add color to 2D vector field???

Hi everyone,

I have a 2D vetor image showing the fluid velocity field. I want to add different colors on the vectors to show their magnitude (described by the length of the vectors) and a colorbar as well. Does anybody know how to fulfill this on matlab? (notes: the vectors are described by iu_s and iv_s, the corresponding coordinates are xi and yi)
