How to implement end position cushioning in a double-acting pneumatic cylinder?

I would like to simulate a double-acting pneumatic cylinder. So far, I have used two translational mechanical converters working against each other, which works quite well. How can I implement end position cushioning now?

If your cushion works by cutting off air flow out of the cylinder, you can model it as an orifice with an area that changes with cylinder position.
