I have 150 spectra from FTIR. These are in situ measurements during a reaction.
I have plotted them and now I need to analyse the data set. One requirement is to select a few points on the x-axis (wavenumber) and make all similar points in the spectra to go zero. Something like correct for shifts in the measurement. Something like bring all the spectra to have a decent baseline, not a baseline fit. Hope my question is clear.
How can I go about doing this. I am new to matlab and would really appreciate the help.

Can you elaborate on a few points I have mentioned below, this would enable me to accurately diagnose the issue and provide you with best solution?
  1. What are the criteria for similarity of x-axis points?
  2. What does it mean ‘to make all similar points in the spectra to go zero’? Does it mean that some y-values (I.e. Absorbance) are assigned 0 value? Or does it mean that some x-values (I.e. wave number) are assigned 0 value?
I would appreciate your inputs on the points mentioned above.
