Reading Excel data rea-ltime with changing data

2 views (last 30 days)
Hello,
I have an Excel sheet that receives continuous varying data via a DDE link with another program. (this is working perfectly)
I want to read the Excel data continuously and realtime in Matlab for example with xlsread.
However it only gives the correct value right after the Excel file has been saved. So yu first need to save the Excel file and then read the file to get the correct updated data.
Is there an otherway where I don't need to save the Excel file all the time before reading the Excel file?
Many thanks in advance for you support.

Hi Leon!
It appears that you must save the incoming real-time data value into the Excel sheet for MATLAB to be able to read that data. This seems to be an essential step to get MATLAB to read the data later.
Alternatively, consider using the command ‘readtable’ instead of ‘xlsread’ (not recommended). Further, here are some examples to use MATLAB to interface with COM technology, since DDE server and client support have been stopped and these functionalities are no longer documented.
