Reading/Writing RH850 Input/Output pins in Simulink

Hi All,

I am trying to connect my RH850 custom board to simulink and when I run simulation I want to read/write I/O pins to/from Simulink while the simulation is running on my computer. Something similar to arduino/raspberry pi toolbox in simulink. I would also like to generate code from this model.

What is the best possible way to achieve this? Will this be called PIL or External mode?

I am trying to implement C-Mex S-functions for each inputs, outputs, pwm etc. But what I am not sure of is how will simulink communicate with the hardware when simulation is running?
