install a new toolbox to Matlab 2012b

Hi,
How do I install a new toolbox in 2012b? I did the set path thing but it still does not show in the apps tab

1. Purchase the toolbox from MathWorks (assuming it is not from a 3rd party) 2. Download from MathWorks Account 3. Install 4. Activate (assuming an individual license)
The path should be automatically set during installation. If not try
restoredefaultpath
Things to test:
Does the output of the command
ver
show the toolbox?

No it does not show the toolbox. This toolbox was made by a third party for an older version of Matlab (version 7) and had installation directions on the website that we all used to know, i.e. using setpath. I tried the setpath here but it does not show it in the set of Apps.
