Simulink Requirements ignoring Windows default pdf program

I have started using SImulink Requirements and have created a link to a pdf data sheet for a component in my model.
When I click the link MATLAB opens the file using Adobe Acrobat DC (the paid version) even though I have set the default program for the file in Windows to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (the free version).
I do not have a license for the pro version so I cannot view the file and have to quit from the Adobe license verification screen (closing my document). I am on a university computer so I cannot uninstall the program and I personally do not have access to the paid version on my login.
Is there a setting somewhere in MATLAB or Simulink Requirements that is overriding the Windows default program preference that I can change. I would really like to be able to link to data sheets to aid requirements tracking and validation as it is a convenient feature of Simulink Requirements (if it worked).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bevan
