Show older comments
i have a record of 55 16 bit words that i want to write to a file. the to file block converts to double and limits at 10**8 elements.
these are 1200Hz records and want to make it binary to reduce size.
using simulink only.

Have you tried using Time Series as the "Save Format"? This format doesn't convert the data to double.

Jeff says:
"When i use the save to workspace, i run out of memory.
1200hz * 55 * 90 minutes of data."

It is likely that MATLAB is running out of memory. What platform are you running (64-bit? Windows?). Also, I would recommend "To File" over "To Workspace" because the signal is written to disk and you are less likely to run into memory issues.
