.dat to state space model

How can convert my .dat file into state space model? I have imported it and tried ss command but it gives error

What is in the file?
It may be necessary to use the System Identification Toolbox to create an appropriate model, if you have time-domain or frequency-domain data in the file.

The type of data you are trying to use decides how you are going to import it in MATLAB. Please take a look at these Answers in the community.
