Merging columns within a single matrix

I have a 5x10 matrix and I would like to use a box plot to graph the data in columns 1 and 3 as one box. In other words I would like to merge columns 1 and 3 into one column. How might I do this?

I have been attempting to use A(:,[1 3]); but I get a new matrix...any suggestions?
