xlswrite - how does one write a multi-size cell in 'one go'?

hi
this is a quote from the help section on xlswrite:
'If A is a cell array containing something other than a scalar numeric or a string, then xlswrite silently leaves the corresponding cell in the spreadsheet empty.'
how can one fill in this empty cell with a data matrix ?
thanks a lot,
mat

You cannot store a matrix in one cell of an Excel table. Excel table cells contain nothing, one number, a string or a macro.

It depends on what you define as "one xlswrite command" and what the intention of this limitation is. There are a lot of submissions in the FEX about the communuication with Excel, so it is a good idea to search there: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/index?utf8=%E2%9C%93&term=xlswrite. This might be useful: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/22365-function-for-faster-data-transfer-matlab-%3C-%3E-excel
