Dual Energy CT Decomposition

Does anyone have a way to take CTs at different energies and to decompose them using Matrix factorization of each pixel?

The paper titled "Analysis of Fast kV-switching in Dual Energy CT using a Pre-reconstruction Decomposition Technique" by Zou and Silver (2008) explains the projection-domain decomposition algorithm very well. However, bear in mind that this method relies on a detailed knowledge of the x-ray photon energy spectrum at every pixel and every energy bin, and is also prohibitively time-consuming without GPU implementation. The Master's Thesis by Joel Larsson (2010) provides additional details regarding the dual energy mathematics used to synthesis virtual monochromatic images or relative density maps of decomposed and reconstructed data.
