The previous device on which I had Matlab installed has been formatted and is no longer accessible. How can I deactivate Matlab on that device in order to install it on a new one.

Hi Omar,
In response to the issue, you have encountered regarding the ‘Error 1616’ which signifies 'no more activations available', I would like to direct your attention to a solution provided by the MathWorks Support Team, specifically addressing the instances where deactivating MATLAB on an inaccessible machine is necessary.
Kindly refer to the following article to know on how to deactivate MATLAB on an inaccessible machine: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/99859-how-can-i-deactivate-matlab-on-a-machine-i-cannot-access#answer_109207
According to the article, to deactivate the MATLAB without access to the activated machine, you need to use the MathWorks License Center by following these steps:
  • Visit the MathWorks License Center.
  • Choose the license you wish to deactivate.
  • Go to the "Install and Activate" tab.
  • Click the blue X under the "Deactivate" column next to the activation you want to deactivate.
I hope the information provided above is helpful in resolving the issue.
