Can I use Wi-Fi to connect a host computer to a Speedgoat target machine in a Simulink Real-Time setup, and what are the considerations for such a wireless setup?

At present, Speedgoat systems do not come with integrated wireless modules, or drivers for USB-Wifi dongles. We therefore develop and test Simulink Real-Time with the assumption that the host computer and Speedgoat target machine are connected directly via a wired local area network (LAN). This ensures optimal performance and reliability.
While we don't officially support or test connections over Wi-Fi, in principle, the underlying communication protocols remain consistent. Therefore, you may not notice a difference in performance when connecting through Wi-Fi. However, be aware that using Wi-Fi could introduce variables that we have not accounted for in our testing scenarios, such as signal interference and varying connection stability, which could potentially affect data exchange.
To integrate Wi-Fi into your setup, one viable approach is to employ a Wi-Fi router in bridge mode, connected via Ethernet to the target machine. This configuration would allow a shared environment where multiple users can sequentially access the same Speedgoat machine (only one user can establish a connection at any given time):

Please be aware that host-target communication involves protocols beyond TCP/IP. For details on the necessary protocols and ports for Simulink Real-Time, consult this resource:
