Hello, since this morning (around 8h00 am, Paris time), data sent by my iots is not recorded. I have not changed any settings on my iots and my internet connection is OK. On the page with my channels, it seems that the channels are updated because I see that the "updated" times are evolving. Is there a problem today with Thingspeak?

I have data from TTN (The Things Network) coming in to Thingspeak channel C1, populating field1 thru field8. TTN is using a webhook, W1, to send the data from node N1 to ThingSpeak. I am adding a new node, N2, in the same TTN "application". I want its data to populate a new ThingSpeak channel, C2. How can I ensure that N1 data goes to only to C1 and N2 data goes only to C2? When I tried this I created a new webhook W2 for C2 (in same TTN application as W1), but the field1 data from N1 goes to field1 in C1 and to field1 in C2. (and similarly for all the other fields). One solution is to put node N2 into a new TTN application and create a new webhook there, but thats not ideal. Is there any way around this?

I have some Matlab code I wrote for a ThingSpeak visualization a while back. I'm finding that I can't use clipboard commands to copy or paste text into the text area when editing a visualization. Neither keyboard shortcuts nor selecting and right-clicking text allow me to successfully copy or paste the text. Is this a bug? How are you supposed to manage the visualization code?

Hi, I am experiencing an issue with my channel. The "Clear Channel" function is not working for me. I triggered the clear action more than 30 minutes ago, but the data is still present and the charts won't clear.

Hi everyone, I am experiencing a critical issue with one of my MATLAB Visualizations (App ID: 684176). Two days ago, everything was working perfectly, but now the public URL only renders the grid, axis labels, and the legend – the actual data curves are completely missing (blank plot area). Here is the technical breakdown of what I have verified and tested so far to rule out standard errors: Code & Data execution: Inside the MATLAB Visualizations editor, clicking "Save and Run" works flawlessly. The plot displays both curves correctly. Checking disp(size(data)) in the editor output returns 400 2, confirming that the script successfully pulls 400 data points across 2 variables from the channel. Channel & Key settings: The underlying channel is set to public, and the correct Read API Key is explicitly defined in the script using single quotes. App Privacy: The "Create a public URL" checkbox is enabled. However, testing the public URL in a private/incognito browser window results in the error message: "The author made this visualization private." This occurs even though the box is checked in the backend and the script was resaved. Local Browser Issues: We ruled out local browser cache, extensions, and ad-blockers. The issue persists across different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge), on different devices (PC and mobile via cellular network), and after performing hard refreshes (Ctrl + F5) with browser tracking protection completely disabled. Server-Side Cache Reset: I have tried toggling the "Create a public URL" checkbox off and on, modifying minor code properties (like changing the LineWidth to force a redraw), and re-saving the script. The server still returns the same empty grid on the public link. It seems like there is a synchronization or backend rendering bug between the logged-in session/MATLAB editor and the anonymous public worker instance for this specific App ID. Could a forum administrator or support engineer please look into why the public rendering worker is failing or treating this specific visualization as private? Thank you in advance! /

Hello, I am developing a Smart Bin monitoring project using an ESP32, ThingSpeak, and MATLAB Analysis. I want to receive an email notification whenever the bin fill level reaches 70%. I created an Alerts API Key and used it in my MATLAB Analysis code. The code reads Field 1 from my ThingSpeak channel and sends an alert when the fill level is at least 70%. However, I have not received the email. I checked the following: The registered email address in my ThingSpeak account is correct. I checked my Inbox and Spam folder but could not find the email. The ThingSpeak Alerts History API returns the following: Subject: Smart Bin Fill Level Alert Status: sent Requested at: 2026-10-18T09:14:39.774Z Sent at: 2026-10-18T09:14:40.036Z The alert allowance also decreased by one after testing. Despite this, the email has not arrived. Could someone explain how to troubleshoot this issue and determine whether the email was actually delivered or rejected? Thank you.

Hello MathWorks Community / Support, I am experiencing a critical authentication issue where I am completely unable to log into my MathWorks and ThingSpeak account using my university student credentials. Every time I attempt to sign in using my institutional email (Central University of Technology, @stud.cut.ac.za), the screen displays the message: "You are about to log in through your organization portal page." Immediately after this message appears, the authentication script completely freezes or hangs on a blank loading screen, failing to ever redirect or open my university's login page. Here is what I have already tried to resolve the issue: • Cleared browser cache, cookies, and local/session storage for both mathworks.com and thingspeak.com. • Attempted the login using both Google Chrome and Brave browsers (including Guest mode and Incognito windows). • Switched networks from local Wi-Fi to a mobile data hotspot to rule out local firewall/DNS blocks. • Changed my Microsoft organization security defaults away from Windows Hello passkeys to standard push notifications to avoid background iFrame blocking. • Tested a personal MathWorks account on the same machine, which works flawlessly. The freeze only happens when the system tries to initiate the SSO handshake with my university's domain. It appears the script or OAuth link between MathWorks and my institution's identity provider is failing to execute. Could you please advise if there is a known issue with the Central University of Technology (CUT) institutional portal integration, or if there is a specific alternative endpoint I can use to bypass this loop and link my account? Thank you for your assistance.

I use "Thingspeak - Timecontrol" for home statistic automation since month. But beginning yesterday (8. Sept. 2026, 6 PM), all my 4 timecontrol timer (every 5-20 minutes) do not react at all. No yellow or red warning shield next to them. They are not just skipted once, there ist no new time in the "Run At" field. The "Last Run" is old. I tried to wake them up (kind of repair) making a littel change to the timer and saving. And I also created completly new timer with one-time-run and/or recurring - all with no success. The Matlab-Analysis scripts behind the timers where not changed yesterday. When I run them manually everything is fine. Has anybody also problems with Timecontrol not running anymore? Thank you for help suggestions or confirmations. Greetings, Bert

Buenas tardes. Salu2 cordiales.

It’s very strange, as I’ve been using ThingSpeak without any issues for years. I enter the data directly. I’ve just made the channel public (ID 2610618) so it can be checked. The same thing is happening with my husband's channel; he also cleared the data from his account (ID 1256514).

Gracias.

Title: Prolonged MQTT connection failures (30-60+ min) to mqtt3.thingspeak.com despite correct config and confirmed-healthy network Hi all, I'm running an industrial IoT gateway (WECON V-BOX, Lua scripting) publishing energy metering data (PM710 meter via Modbus RTU) to a private ThingSpeak channel over MQTT (mqtt3.thingspeak.com:1883), on a 4G cellular connection, one publish per 60s cycle. Setup: - QoS 0, CleanSession=1, no Will flag, correct topic format (channels/<id>/publish) - Update rate well within the free/student license limit (60s vs 15s minimum) - Persistent MQTT connection with a preventive renewal every 15 publications (close + recreate the client object) - Tested keepalive=60 and keepalive=90 (both with the same underlying issue) Symptom: intermittently, the client gets stuck failing to (re)connect for extended periods -- I've logged individual episodes lasting 8, 27, and even 58 minutes, with repeated connect() attempts returning "Operation failure" every cycle, before eventually recovering on its own without any configuration change. What I've already ruled out: - Site/cellular connectivity: I have an independent, parallel monitoring path (WECON's own V-NET platform, reading the same gateway but NOT going through MQTT/ThingSpeak at all) that shows ~99-100% data continuity during these exact windows where ThingSpeak shows 0% -- so the 4G link itself is healthy during these episodes. - Publish-side rejection: publish() succeeds 100% of the time when connected (no rejected messages, no rate-limit errors). - Basic MQTT config errors (checked against the official troubleshoot-MQTT-publish checklist: correct broker address/port, QoS 0, CleanSession=1, no Will flag). Questions: 1. Does ThingSpeak's MQTT broker enforce any rate limit or temporary lockout on CONNECT attempts (as opposed to the documented publish rate limit)? I.e., could repeated failed connection attempts from the same client ID cause the broker to temporarily refuse further attempts? 2. Is there a known minimum time the broker needs to fully release a previous session (same Client ID, CleanSession=1) before accepting a new CONNECT, beyond what a normal disconnect()/close() sequence would provide? 3. Are there known issues or best practices specific to WECON V-BOX / embedded Lua MQTT clients connecting to ThingSpeak? 4. Is there any server-side logging or status page I could check for a specific device/client ID to see the broker's-eye view of why a CONNACK was refused during one of these episodes? Any pointers, even partial, would be much appreciated -- this is for a doctoral research project measuring IoT gateway availability, so I have detailed logs (timestamps, consecutive failure counts, episode durations) if that's useful context. Thanks in advance.

I have a LORA node up-linking data to a Thingspeak channel via The Things Network (TTN). Sometimes it stops sending data and I reboot it by logging into my console on TTN and sending a re-boot down-link message to the node. Is there any way I can transmit a downlink message to the node direct from Thinkspeak? how to reboot a LORA node if it stops sending data? Is there an API call to trigger the downlink? If so, you can trigger from ThingSpeak via MATLAB analysis code using webwrite aor webread. Thanks Christopher, thanks for that - there is indeed an API for TTN. I shall investigate that further and I'll post back here with what I find... regards, Steve The TTN API documentation gives the following example of a downlink to the end device dev1 of the application app1 using the webhook wh1. curl --location \ --header 'Authorization: Bearer NNSXS.XXXXXXXXX' \ --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \ --header 'User-Agent: my-integration/my-integration-version' \ --request POST \ --data '{"downlinks":[{ "frm_payload":"vu8=", "f_port":15, "priority":"NORMAL" }] }' \ 'https://thethings.example.com/api/v3/as/applications/app1/webhooks/wh1/devices/dev1/down/push' I've tried to enter that information into my ThingHTTP, using my own parameters for dev1, app1, wh1 etc, including the Authorisation header with the bearer key from TTN and the Content-Type header. I do not know what to insert for the User-Agent header, so left that out. I tried sending the command from a CMD window in Windows 11, using curl as below, but I get a "-1" response, indicating a failure, and TTN does not receive the downlink either... Maybe the User-Agent header is essential . Any suggestions? curl "https://api.thingspeak.com/apps/thinghttp/send_request?api_key=my-api-key" User agent is not needed (thoug it can he helpful for statistics on our side). The -1 for ThingHTTP usually means authorization problem. You could check though by making the ThingHTTP just do something simple like update a channel. For flexibility, I would recomend you use a MATLAB analysis. Its a little harder to trigger from a device, but you can have a React set up from a channel, and when the device updates the channel, then the react will trigger the code. You get a lot more flexibility in what you can send from MATLAB code instead of the ThingHTTP UI. And its easier to develop and test code: if you have MATLAB desktop or usinging MATLAB onlineor the MATLAB AI chat playground (the last two have a free tier if needed). You can use webread or webwrite in your code to call other API's. weboptions can help wih the authorization and setting other headers. The playground can help you write the code also. Well I did manage to get this working - I now detect if a channel has not sent any data in the last say 30min, and if not I send a reboot command to that node. If anyone is interested I will dig it up and provide an explanation.... I think it would be useful if you could share the info on remotely rebooting the TTN node. I could imagine other users setting up a React with a no data insert check. @Steven Grobler It is possible that incoming requests to the device are blocked by the networking firewalls. I'd start by looking to see if you can make a working the cURL request to the trigger the downlink from a machine on a different network than the TTN Node. If you can share that, I can help with converting that to the equivalent ThingHTTP request. thingspeak ttn reboot downlink

Have been using Thingspeak for a few years, suddenly I get this message relating to one of my Matlab analysis scripts, which has run for years: Error Message: Unrecognized function or variable 'cusum'. cusum requires Signal Processing Toolbox. What has changed to cause this error - I've done nothing! Unrecognised function cusum error suddenly appears in my thingspeak matlabe analysis- why? Could you have been using cumsum and accidentally deleted the m? What is the exact error from clicking "Save and Run" on the MATLAB Analysis? If you still get the error, can you share the MATLAB Analysis code with any API Keys redacted? @Steven Grobler So you are absolutely right - there were no changes on your end, or on ThingSpeak. So I did some investigation to get to the root of the issue. It appears that you perviously had a home license of MATLAB and Signal Processing Toolbox. That license appears to have expired on 2026-02-28 and the grace period associated with the expired license also ended. So, any use of Signal Processing Toolbox functions on ThingSpeak no longer has access to functionality from that toolbox, resulting in the error you see. If you are using the Signal Processing Toolbox on ThingSpeak, I would recommend renewing/purchasing a new license for Signal Processing Toolbox. thingspeak cusum

I am currently using the ThingSpeak API to upload bat detection data from my project. I am trying to set the created_at timestamp to match the date and time captured from the image filenames. However, despite sending the created_at field in ISO 8601 format (YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SSZ) via JSON in a POST request, ThingSpeak still records the current upload time instead of the provided timestamp. Could you please clarify the correct way to send a custom timestamp so that ThingSpeak uses it instead of the current server time? Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated.
