In this section, you can find aerospace examples in multiple Simscape Fluids domains.
Featured Examples
Air Liquefaction
Models a Linde-Hampson air liquefaction cycle using the two-phase fluid components. The compressor drives the vapor air through two heat exchangers, recuperator, expansion valve, and storage tank. The first heat exchanger contains water at atmospheric temperature, while the second heat exchanger contains refrigerant. The pressure drops as the cooled air passes through the expansion valve which results in condensation. The air and entrained condensation then pass through a receiver tank where the condensation separates from the air. The liquid air is stored in a receiver tank while the vapor air is circulated back to the compressor.
Aircraft Fuel Supply System with Three Tanks
Model an aircraft fuel supply system consisting of three tanks and an engine.
Aircraft Fuel Supply System with Three Tanks
The fuel supply system represented in the example consists of three tanks and an engine. The engine is fed from the central tank, while fuel from the left wing tank and the right wing tank is pumped to the central tank with respective pumping stations. Each pumping station consists of two centrifugal pumps, connected in parallel, with check valves installed in the pump outlets to prevent back flow. The pumps are driven by prime movers at angular velocity of 7200 rpm. The movers are simulated with the ideal angular velocity source.
Brayton Cycle (Gas Turbine)
Models a gas turbine auxiliary power unit (APU) based on the Brayton Cycle. The power input to the system is represented by heat injection into the combustor; actual combustion chemistry is not modeled. A single shaft connects the compressor and the turbine so that the power from the turbine drives the compressor. The APU is a free turbine that further expands the exhaust stream to produce output power.
