When I try to run the MathWorks Product Installer, I eventually run into an error reading, "Unable to write to the selected folder." How do I resolve this?

On Windows, this error may occur due to the following reasons:
On Linux:
This occurs when running the installer without sudo and trying to install in a sudo-required folder (such as the default location, /usr/local/MATLAB/R20XXy).
To get around, either run the installer with sudo or select a different location which doesn't require sudo. For more information on how to install MATLAB on Linux, follow the documentation below:
