Why do I see the error message "Invalid null character in text to output" in my installation log file?

When choosing the 'Log in with MathWorks Account' option during installation, I receive a Connection Error. When checking my installation log file I see the following output:

org.apache.axis2.AxisFault: Invalid null character in text to output

How can I proceed with the installation?

The issue may be caused by having special characters such as umlauts. There has also been one instance where the '@' symbol in the email has caused the issue. 

Potential workarounds to this issue is:

• Make sure you do not have any special characters in your password
• Use your MathWorks User ID to log in instead of your email
