Importing an OpenDrive file created with Roadrunner back into Roadrunner does not re-create the original geometry

Roadrunner Team,
I'm creating an OpenDrive file from a simple intersection shown below
Importing the OpenDrive file I just created back into Roadrunner produces this. So far so good.
However, after pressing "Convert Roads", I see the following result:
I would have expected that I would see the original intersection that I started with. Does this look like a bug, or am I doing something wrong with the export and import options?
Best Regards,
Aleksey

Hi Aleksey,
This issue was addressed in RoadRunner R2022a.
The same intersection created:
Importing the OpenDRIVE file back into RoadRunner:
After pressing "Convert Roads":
A few notes to this process:
  • Export and re-import is not the best way to validate OpenDRIVE data exported from RoadRunner. Instead, there is an OpenDRIVE Export Preview Tool that shows a preview of the exported OpenDRIVE data and allows detailed exploration of the data. The Output Panel shows any Warnings or Errors that may have occurred during the export process.
  • The resulting imported RoadRunner scene will still be a little different from the original RoadRunner scene. There will be 4 incoming/outgoing roads instead of 2 through roads. The corners and maneuver roads will be connected to the ends of those roads, rather than the middle.
  • If adjustments are still needed after export, prefer making adjustments to a RoadRunner scene and re-exporting rather than re-importing an OpenDRIVE file already exported from RoadRunner.
I understand that you're having issues importing roads in OpenDRIVE in Roadrunner.
RoadRunner can import OpenDRIVE files and convert the data to the internal road format, however, there are limitations for the import of certain road types. They are listed in the following documentation : Importing OpenDRIVE Files

Thank you Rhea.
I understand the limitations, however, I don't believe they apply to the case I am trying. The issue is that a basic intersection exported from RoadRunner does not import correctly when imported back into Roadrunner.
The steps to reproduce this issue are:
  • Create a basic 90 degree intersection between two straight roads
  • Export to OpenDrive format
  • Import the file that was just exported. The sidewalks look different compared to the original. See screenshots in my original question.
Are you part of the VectorZero support staff? If not, is it possible to relay this support ticket to somebody from that team, please?
Best Regards,

Hi Aleksey
I have brought this issue to the concerned team where it can be investigated further.
Hi Aleksy
This is appears to be a bug. Our developers are aware about it, and it may be fixed in future releases.
Are you trying to re-import a scene that already exists in RoadRunner to validate the OpenDRIVE data?
If so, we have the OpenDRIVE Export Preview tool for this. I recommend using this tool to verify the data rather than re-importing. Info: https://www.mathworks.com/help/roadrunner/ug/OpenDRIVE-Export-Preview-Tool.html
This tool actually exports the OpenDRIVE and re-imports it for you, all behind the scenes and without issues.
